Another dissemination event was held within the framework of the Erasmus+ funded project Disaster Journalism: Preventing the News from Turning into a Disaster. The event was organized by the University of Vigo (UVigo), Faculty of Communication, bringing together journalism professionals, academics, and students.

The event focused on presenting the main intellectual outputs of the project, including the Disaster Journalism book, which compiles the project’s training curriculum on disaster reporting, as well as practical, ethical, and safety guidelines designed to support journalists in the field. In addition, a series of educational podcasts, infographics, and videos developed as part of the project were introduced to the participants.

Through a combination of online and in-person sessions, the event also aimed to raise awareness of the importance of accurate, ethical, and responsible journalism in disaster and crisis situations. Particular emphasis was placed on issues such as verification, empathy toward victims, avoidance of sensationalism, and journalists’ safety and well-being.

The event contributed to the dissemination of project results and reinforced collaboration between academia and media professionals, supporting the project’s overall goal of improving disaster journalism education and practice.
