On 17 December 2025, the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Primorska hosted the third awareness-raising event of the Disaster Journalism project. The event focused on the role of non-governmental organisations in disasters, violent conflicts, and emergency situations, highlighting their contribution to human rights protection, documentation of violations, and advocacy for vulnerable groups. The introductory session, led by Karmen Medica and Lia Lola V. Kotnik from the Department of Media Studies (UP FHŠ), presented the project, its textbook, and three guidebooks.

The main session featured Amnesty International, with a focus on Amnesty International Slovenia. Representative Kristina Božič shared insights into the organisation’s work in crisis contexts, verification of human rights violations, and the importance of independent civil society action. The event also included a short promotional film showcasing Amnesty International’s activities in global crisis areas.
